Following the untimely death of his father, a young boy is left in the eerie solitude of a sprawling country estate with his recently widowed stepmother. His stepmother, struggling to cope with the overwhelming task of parenthood, distances herself from him and their fragile bond is at risk of crumbling. Amid the mounting tension, the boy begins to hear disturbing sounds echoing through the hallways and is soon haunted by the presence of a grotesque creature that bears an eerily familiar resemblance to his late father. As the boy's warnings are dismissed as the imagination of a grieving child, the sinister entity tightens its grip on their crumbling lives.
